White Protea Haus sits within an expansive indigenous garden that has been thoughtfully curated to showcase the diversity of the Cape’s fynbos flora, one of the 5 Floral Kingdoms of the world. The pathways - meandering nearly 400 metres through this garden - lead guests through a sequence of distinct garden rooms: areas filled with sculptural aloes, pockets of flowering proteas, and shaded sections softened by lush clivias. Along the way, small seating alcoves provide intimate spaces to pause, while a dedicated area with a built-in fire pit offers an inviting setting for evenings outdoors.
The natural swimming pool sits just beside the terrace, designed as both a visual focal point and a gentle ecosystem. Its solar-warmed swimming area features an integrated jet that allows for both leisurely floats and invigorating laps, while a separate regeneration zone - fed by filtered borehole water - supports a lush, living habitat. This planted section attracts birds, dragonflies and seasonal blooms, creating a quiet, ever-changing tapestry of movement. The soft sound of flowing water completes the scene with an instant sense of calm.
The architecture of the house places a strong emphasis on openness and cohesion. High ceilings and wide glass panels maximise views and daylight, dissolving the boundary between the interior and the garden. Inside, materials such as oak flooring and textured natural finishes bring warmth and subtle sophistication to the space.
The central living area is organised as an open-plan layout that allows cooking, dining and relaxing to blend effortlessly. The kitchen is equipped with premium appliances, including an airfryer and plate warmer, and is centred around a large T-shaped island that doubles as a social gathering point. Adjacent to it, the living space features both a wood-burning fireplace and an automated gas fireplace, complemented by deep window benches and comfortable seating.
Large sliding doors open onto a covered veranda that wraps around the house. This outdoor extension of the living space includes a wind-sheltered dining area with a ceiling fan, ensuring comfort even on warmer days. Further along the veranda are a series of protected seating zones that invite guests to spend time outside at any hour—whether reading, relaxing, or simply watching the landscape shift with the light.
On the northern side, a tastefully furnished outdoor lounge provides a tranquil vantage point over the natural pool and the surrounding wetland planting, with the mountains rising in the near distance. This area is particularly atmospheric at dusk, when colours settle softly over the valley.
Upstairs, the three bedrooms are designed to be restful and uncluttered, each equipped with air conditioning for year-round comfort.
The main bedroom features an extra-length king bed and an exceptionally spacious en-suite bathroom with underfloor heating, a bathtub, a walk-in shower and a separate toilet. A built-in beverage cooler adds convenience. The room’s elevated position provides sweeping views of the sea, the valley and the mountains.
The second bedroom also includes an extra-length king bed and faces the ocean, allowing guests to wake up to an uninterrupted coastal panorama.
The third bedroom, furnished with an extra-length queen bed, looks towards Silvermine Nature Reserve, offering a dramatic sequence of mountain vistas.
The additional upstairs bathroom mirrors the design language of the main en-suite: clean lines, underfloor heating and a calm, contemporary aesthetic.
A dedicated home office provides a bright, well-organised workspace with a height-adjustable desk, large external monitor, printer, high-speed fibre-based WiFi 6 and both air conditioning and underfloor heating. Its elevated outlook makes it an inspiring place for focused work.
The property is fully prepared for South Africa’s power interruptions, operating with solar panels, an inverter system and battery storage. Fibre-based WiFi extends across the house and the garden, while USB charging points throughout add convenience.
White Protea is designed for privacy and ease: the garden is fully enclosed, an automated gate ensures secure access, parking is available on-site, and weekly cleaning and property maintenance are included. A personalised check-in and a digital guest guide with curated recommendations round off the guest experience.

The office becomes very bright in the afternoon as the sun shines directly into the room, which can make the computer screen difficult to read.
Bedside tables
The bedside tables for the 2nd and 3rd bedroom are still outstanding. In the meantime, we will provide practical temporary surfaces for placing your personal items.
